Job Description Summary

The Senior Compliance Investigator will be a leading & influential member of the Compliance Investigations Center of Excellence that is developing and implementing an overall strategy for internal Ombuds investigations. The Senior Compliance Investigator will be a lawyer, or senior Compliance professional, responsible for investigating cases regarding a variety of matters involving alleged violations of law or GE Aerospace policy and be recognized as a subject matter expert in high risk and complex compliance investigations.

Working with other stakeholders in Legal, Compliance, Controllership, HR and other areas, the Senior Compliance Investigator will (1) lead investigations of policy concerns raised through the open reporting system, including against individuals at the highest levels of the organization; (2) identify trends, and keep key stakeholders apprised of important developments; (3) mentor other, less experienced investigators. This role is critical to the planning and implementation of GE Aerospace’s compliance program.

This Senior Compliance Investigator must be a self-starter, with ability to handle a large and varied caseload simultaneously and to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as proven record of being thorough, fair, and objective with attention to detail, timeliness and with a cost control mindset. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team and interface effectively with senior business and functional leaders throughout the organization.

Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and handle independent investigations with a best-in-class mindset, including complex cases requiring sophisticated techniques, as well as mentor and assist less experienced investigators in conducting investigations;
  • Stay abreast of internal investigative best practices and actively contribute or spearhead defining new standards for the organization;
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in process and contribute to projects aimed at streamlining processes;
  • Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to other investigators
  • Carry out prompt, thorough, and objective investigations into alleged violations of law or company policy.  Cases may involve any of GE Aerospace’s Spirit & Letter policies.  For example, matters may concern complex questions involving finance, controllership, conflict of interest, quality, sourcing, EHS, information technology and security, intellectual property, improper payments, competition law, and more
  • Use high levels of evaluative judgment to review and assess complaints and allegations and be able to develop and manage investigate plans and strategies
  • Conduct concern raiser, witness, and subject interviews
  • Conduct investigative research: including review and analyze all reliable and relevant information (i.e. emails, data files, invoices) including performing forensic analysis and reviewing Corporate and business-specific policies & procedures
  • Provide oral briefings to senior leadership and functional owners on cases, and identify appropriate corrective actions
  • Review and write documentation of investigation in report files
  • Partner with the business to perform root cause analysis and drive lasting corrective actions;
  • Maintain client relationships in the face of conflicting demands or directions and provide evidence-based conclusion and recommendation on sound diagnosis and information
  • Partner with legal, Ombuds/Open Reporting and other functions to identify and understand trends; analyze and report out on such trends and thereby enable the organization to respond in a timely and proactive manner and influence the development of the strategy within area of expertise
  • Know and understand all applicable legal and policy requirements pertaining to the conduct of investigations including in areas involving employee interviews, data privacy, labor and employment requirements, and more; monitor changes in such laws and policies and provide guidance to colleagues with respect to such changes

Basic Qualification/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or college
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Compliance, Law, Audit, HR or another related field
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience
  • May require occasional travel;
  • Eligibility Requirement:

Role could be based in another major GE Aerospace site in the United States of America.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Law degree, post-graduate degree in business or other relevant field, or an audit or quality background
  • High level of commercial acumen
  • Proven analytical and evaluation skills
  • Proven ability to clearly and concisely prepare, present, and discuss findings and recommendations at a senior level and produce clear and compelling report
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Highest personal integrity with demonstrate ability to handle confidential matters in a discreet and respectful manner
  • Process and detail-oriented, including strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Strong cross functional collaboration and influencing skills across all levels of the organization
  • High level of cultural sensitivity, flexibility and emotional intelligence in order to work effectively within GE Aerospace’s multicultural environment.  Other languages would be considered a plus.
