We are seeking a Senior Counsel to lead and work with other litigation colleagues in advising on commercial and subsidiary litigation matters, including claims under the FCRA. This role will be a trusted partner to internal clients, focused on independently supervising and managing pre-litigation and litigation disputes, from investigation, negotiation and settlement.

This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TransUnion office location for a minimum of two days a week.

What You'll Bring

 

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required and 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, with strong litigation experience.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) strongly preferred.
  • Strong litigation experience required.
    • Trial experience preferred.
    • Employment litigation and/or commercial litigation preferred.
  • Ability to work closely and independently in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment with other attorneys, business colleagues, executives, and administrators.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills (logic, problem solving, issue spotting, and decision making).
  • Strong work ethic with the demonstrated ability to manage and handle a significant workflow in an effective and timely manner.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and foster strong relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborative mindset and team player.
  • Proactive problem solver and learner mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a significant and diverse work flow in an effective and timely manner.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strategically manage (with some supervision) subsidiary FCRA individual litigation matters including, analyzing and valuing resolution/settlement potential, initial case assessment, business impact, root cause, and lessons learned.
  • Strategically manage (with some supervision) commercial pre-litigation disputes and litigation/arbitration, including interacting with the business clients and legal partners, analyzing and valuing resolution/settlement potential, initial case assessment, business impact, root cause, and lessons learned.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft settlement agreements and related documents.
  • Respond to third party subpoenas and oversee third party depositions.
  • Manage outside counsel in subsidiary FCRA individual cases and broad commercial litigation matters, including budgeting.
  • Report/Update management, including senior leaders on matters.
  • Provide proactive legal counsel to stakeholders, including TransUnion management.
  • Excel at working independently, while exhibiting sound judgment in seeking guidance and direction from senior attorneys and escalating issues.
