Summary
The Legal Division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board) is hiring paid summer law clerks. The Board, an independent agency of the federal government, serves as the nation’s central bank and conducts monetary policy; maintains the stability of the U.S. financial system; supervises and regulates a wide range of banking institutions, including systemically important financial institutions; and provides key financial services to depository institutions.
The Board’s Legal Division offers attorneys opportunities to work on challenging legal issues relating to federal regulation of the nation’s banking system, including providing legal analysis and advice regarding mergers and acquisitions, and developing and implementing policies related to, among other things, banking supervision and consumer protection, payments systems, and the discount window. Attorneys also defend and prosecute ligation in which the Board is a party; engage in enforcement actions and investigations undertaken by the Board; and provide legal analysis and advice on matters relating to the management of the Board. The Legal Division is comprised of approximately 110 attorneys working in three primary groups: Financial Regulation and Policy; Enforcement and Litigation; Internal Administrative Law and Summer Law Clerks will work on assignments in all three primary groups.
