Founded in 1947, CEB is one of California’s oldest and most prestigious legal information and continuing legal education providers. CEB publishes judgments of California case law, practical guidance for attorneys and, CLE all in a variety of practice areas and formats e.g. print, online and, in-person. CEB operates as a nonprofit within the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). We are an arm of UCLA Extension as we provide continuing education needed for licensed lawyers and other legal professionals. We are seeking a Legal Content Specialist (Writer Editor 3) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with formal legal training or experience, such as a JD or Paralegal, and who is passionate about legal research, writing, and editing. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of legal content projects and collaborate across multiple practice areas. As a Legal Content Specialist, you will support legal content creation and ensure accuracy across multiple platforms, including TrueCite, Publications, Practitioner, and DailyNews. You will work closely with Managing Content Attorneys and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of legal content, while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Key Responsibilities: Conduct legal research using electronic tools such as Westlaw and Lexis to support content development and update existing materials across multiple legal topics.Perform legal editing to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to legal standards, including revising and updating content in assigned substantive areas.Contribute to the creation of original legal content, and adapt writing styles to meet CEB guidelines for various delivery formats.Communicate complex legal developments clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.Collaborate with Managing Content Attorneys and teams across departments, ensuring smooth workflows and consistent, high-quality output.Manage multiple overlapping short- and long-term projects, maintaining organization and meeting tight deadlines.Ensure thorough citation verification and utilize tools such as cite-checking programs to maintain accuracy in legal references. Qualifications: BA required, with JD or Paralegal certification required.Demonstrated ability to edit, revise, and update materials accurately and thoroughly in legal content areas.Excellent legal research skills, including proficiency with Westlaw, Lexis, and citation verification tools.Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, and the ability to adapt to CEB’s writing and formatting guidelines.Analytical skills with the ability to explain and apply complex legal concepts.Demonstrated communication skills, with the ability to convey legal information effectively and collaborate within a team and across departments.Proficient in standard office applications (MS Word, Outlook, Excel) and legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis, cite-checking programs).Time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining accurate records and producing high-quality results.Ability to manage multiple software applications simultaneously and adapt to new tools and technologies. Preferred Skills & Attributes: Experience across multiple practice areas is a plus.Ability to explain and systematically approach legal research and writing processes.Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
