Position Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Contracts to lead and manage all aspects of contract administration across the organization. This leadership role is responsible for the full contract lifecycle—including contract negotiation, compliance, risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement—for public and private projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in construction or professional services contracts and a proven ability to implement controls that protect the company’s interests while supporting project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, review, negotiation, and execution of contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and amendments.
- Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
- Manage the contract lifecycle from pre-award through close-out, ensuring contract terms are properly executed and documented.
- Work cross-functionally with Project Managers, Legal, Procurement, and Finance teams to support contract planning and execution.
- Evaluate and mitigate contractual risk and liability through proactive contract language and negotiation strategies.
- Monitor performance and obligations of both the organization and external parties to ensure contractual compliance.
- Implement and maintain a centralized contracts database and tracking system.
- Serve as the point of contact for external partners regarding contractual matters, including conflict resolution.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of contract administrators or project support staff.
- Develop and deliver internal training on contract policies, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Legal Studies, or a related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
- 8–10+ years of experience in contract management, preferably in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or government contracting.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, negotiation strategies, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with federal/state/public agency contracts and prevailing wage regulations is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with contract management software and project management tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Certification such as CPCM, CCM, or PMP is a plus.
