Legal Assistant – Architecture & Engineering Practice Group

Location: Chicago, IL Experience Required: Commercial litigation required; A&E litigation experience STRONGLY desired.

We are seeking a seasoned Legal Assistant to support our Architecture & Engineering (A&E) Practice Group in Chicago.

This full-time role is best suited for a highly skilled professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience supporting litigation attorneys. Experience within the Architecture & Engineering space-or with related design professional liability matters-is highly valued and will be given priority consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, proofread, and edit legal correspondence and court filings.
  • Prepare and file pleadings with both state and federal courts.
  • Coordinate depositions, manage litigation calendars, and track critical deadlines.
  • Assist with the preparation, service, and submission of discovery and motion filings.
  • Maintain comprehensive case files and oversee document management systems.
  • Arrange attorney travel, process expense reports, and handle time entry with accuracy and timeliness.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state court rules, procedures, and e-filing systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel); Adobe Acrobat proficiency is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Prior experience supporting litigation attorneys is essential; exposure to Architecture & Engineering litigation or design professional liability work is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $64,000 – $82,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
