Pay Rate: $60 - $75 / hr ($120,000 - $150,000)

Job description:

Investment organization is seeking a Legal Operations Manager to design and scale its Global

Legal Operations function. This role will build the foundation for a data-driven, efficient, and

tech-enabled legal department. You’ll partner across Legal, IT, and Procurement to streamline

operations, implement technology solutions, and establish performance metrics that enhance

decision-making and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support

• Build and execute a scalable Legal Operations roadmap focused on efficiency, automation, and measurable impact.
• Define and track KPIs and metrics aligned with department and business goals.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration and resource optimization to align processes and data across Legal, IT, Procurement and other business domains.

Technology and Systems

• Implement and integrate legal technologies including eBilling, matter management, and AI tools.
• Manage legal digital platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft).
• Serve as system administrator for legal tech tools (e.g., Spellbook, Coupa CLM, eBilling, etc.)
• Promote adoption through training, knowledge sharing, documentation, and change management.

Data, Analytics, and AI

• Build dashboards and reports to support data-driven decisions.
• Advance a data-first culture and translate insights into operational improvements.
• Experience designing or deploying AI-powered legal tools or OpenAI-based agents.

Financial and Vendor Management

• Oversee legal spending, budgeting, forecasting, and outside counsel management in partnership with Finance.
• Enforce Outside Counsel Billing Guidelines and launch eBilling system and processes to achieve legal spend savings.
• Manage performance and costs with external law firms and other legal service providers.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Legal Operations or related experience.
• Proven success building or scaling a Legal Ops function as a first-time legal ops hire.
• Hands-on experience with CLM, data analysis, eBilling, AI and process automation tools.
• Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with ability to manage personal and team priorities across busy schedules.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with familiarity and passion for leveraging AI togain efficiencies including OpenAI and CoPilot.

Preferred

• Experience with AI tools (e.g., OpenAI APIs or custom agent development).
• Familiarity with platforms such as Coupa, SharePoint, or Spellbook.
• Experience in a financial services or highly regulated environment.
• JD or MBA certification a plus.
