What You’ll Do

Teradata is launching a new Product Counsel function, which will guide the development, launch, and lifecycle management of innovative technology products. The Product Counsel team is pivotal in ensuring regulatory compliance, managing legal risk, and protecting Teradata’s intellectual property, while enabling business growth and product excellence. Success in this role looks like being embedded early in product decision-making, anticipating legal and regulatory issues before they become blockers, and enabling teams to ship compliant, differentiated products and services agilely.

As the function’s Project Manager, you will be the connective tissue across teams, enabling the Product Counsel function to operate efficiently, prioritize effectively, track commitments, and deliver high-quality business partnership. This role will work closely with Product Counsel, Privacy, Security, Product Management, and Engineering stakeholders to build scalable processes, manage cross-functional programs, drive operational excellence, and ensure that legal input is consistently integrated into the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities include:

_Program, Process and Knowledge Management

_

  • Develop, implement, and maintain operational processes and workflows for the Product Counsel function.
  • Build mechanisms for tracking legal reviews, escalations, approvals, and deliverables across product teams.
  • Manage intake processes, SLAs, work queues, and cross-functional communications.
  • Partner with Legal Ops (if applicable) to align on tooling, metrics, and governance.
  • Develop and maintain templates, playbooks, guidance materials, and self-service resources. service resources.

_Product Development Lifecycle Integration

  • Ensure Product Counsel is integrated into product roadmapping, and release cycles.
  • Maintain visibility into product timelines, launches, and changes that may trigger legal review.
  • Coordinate between engineering, product managers, and Product Counsel to ensure timely legal engagement.

_Program Execution & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Product Counsel and the Law Team to identify emerging regulatory and risk themes impacting product strategy.
  • Help translate legal risk positions into scalable operational frameworks and playbooks.
  • Assist in framing structured risk tradeoff discussions for leadership, including preparation of decision materials.
  • Coordinate closely with Product Counsel Contract Manager to ensure alignment between product-level legal decisions and downstream commercial execution.
  • Drive recurring cross-functional meetings, including agendas, materials, and followups.
  • Serve as the operational liaison between Product Counsel and other internal functions (Product, Engineering, Privacy, InfoSec, Compliance, Go-to-Market, etc. ).
  • Own cross-functional initiative tracking, ensuring that legal requirements or changes are implemented.
  • Support alignment with privacy, regulatory, and security frameworks relevant to products.

_Metrics, Reporting, & Insights

  • Define and track KPIs for the Product Counsel function (e. g. , cycle time, review volumes, SLA adherence).
  • Create dashboards and periodic reporting for leadership.
  • Use data to identify operational bottlenecks and recommend improvements.

Who You’ll Work With

Sitting at the intersection of innovation and integrity, Teradata’s Product Counsel Program Manager will serve as a bridge between Teradata’s law and product engineering organizations. You will collaborate closely with product teams and leaders of other legal functions – including our compliance, commercial, and IP teams. In this role, you will report directly to the Vice President of Law, Chief Privacy, Ethics & Compliance Counsel. What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

  • 5–8+ years of program or project management experience, ideally within tech, SaaS, cloud, or legal/compliance-oriented environments.
  • Proven experience building and operationalizing cross-functional programs.
  • Strong understanding of product development and engineering workflows (e. g. , agile, DevOps).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across legal, privacy, engineering, and product teams.
  • Experience with productivity and workflow tools (JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet, \etc. ).

What You’ll Bring

  • Background in product operations, legal operations, or technical program management to help set the Product Counsel Function up for success.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to AI products and systems, as well as general privacy regulations and how they apply to tech products (e. g. , GDPR, CPRA, EU AI Act, Open Source)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and demanding work environment and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bias and drive for action, learning and problem solving; a service-focused approach.
  • Collaborative teammate and able to work independently.
