IP Counsel (Contract) Experience: 5+ Years Location: Remote (United States) Hours: 40 Hours / Week Duration: 3 Months (September 2026 – December 2026)

Our client is seeking an experienced IP Counsel to support its legal team on a broad range of intellectual property matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with strong in-house or technology company experience who can provide practical legal guidance across patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and IP-related commercial matters in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Advise the business on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to protect, maintain, and enforce the company's intellectual property portfolio.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements, including licenses, assignments, and joint development agreements.
  • Provide legal guidance on IP disputes, including infringement matters, cease and desist letters, and litigation strategy.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to identify legal risks and develop practical, business-focused solutions.
  • Conduct IP audits and support initiatives to strengthen and optimize the company's IP portfolio.
  • Monitor developments in intellectual property law and advise the business on emerging legal and industry trends.
  • Support the development of internal policies, processes, and best practices related to intellectual property.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience practicing intellectual property law.
  • Strong experience advising on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and IP enforcement.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating IP-related commercial agreements.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to handle confidential matters.
  • In-house experience at a technology company is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting patent matters and IP litigation is a plus.
