Assistant County Attorney

Represent Rice County in the prosecution of all types of offenses; advise County departments or agencies on matters of law or procedural questions concerning laws applicable to their specific area; assist the County Attorney in fulfilling all statutory duties as required.

Examples of Duties:

This position may have responsibility for adult criminal prosecution, or civil caseload or a combination of both.
Responsible for all aspects of criminal prosecution, including charging, discovery, motion practice, default and contested hearings, trial practice, and all other court appearances.
Manages civil cases, including, but not limited, to juvenile prosecution, guardianship petitions.
Advise law enforcement and other county agencies with regard to laws applicable to their specific questions.
Other duties as directed.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and admission to the Minnesota State Bar as well as less than one year to three or more years of related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of practice experience are preferred.
Supplemental Information: UNION: AFSCME – Grade 16

HOURS: This is a professional position with work hours pursuant to County policy. Additional hours may be required to fulfill duties. Attendance at evening meetings may be required.
