Marqeta’s Senior Compliance Assurance and Testing Manager , is a key management position within Marqeta’s Compliance department. The successful candidate is an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented individual who can craft compelling narratives for Marqeta’s compliance assurance programs, understand the regulatory requirements across multiple products and jurisdictions, and work with control owners to monitor and test compliance with regulatory, contractual and network requirements. You will be responsible for assessing the effectiveness of highly complex controls that help ensure ongoing compliance with key laws, regulations and policies affecting Marqeta, its partner banks, and its customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain an annual testing plan for the range of Marqeta products and services, including Payments, Lending, and Deposits
  • Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer and provide strategic advice for compliance assurance
  • Develop assurance approaches corresponding to scope of the targeted testing of controls
  • Collaborate with the first line of defense to develop remediation plans to resolve control weaknesses identified through testing
  • Track and validate the implementation of remedial actions submitted by the remedial actions owners to verify that issues were remediated
  • Prepare review reports for Management that highlights the scope, testing approach, and the results of the review
  • Promote proactive identification of regulatory risks and continuously improve execution of the testing plan
  • Ensure the quality of work delivered by the testing team and timely escalation of issues encountered during the course of testing to the first line of defense and Senior Management
  • Consistently monitor and assess external industry trends and regulatory environment to help shape Marqeta’s compliance assurance and testing program
  • Proactively and continually assess opportunities for programmatic transformation, improvement and enhancement across all elements of our compliance program, including through evaluation of assurance, monitoring and remediation outcomes
  • Deliver data-backed narratives and presentations to clearly communicate risks and findings to the Chief Compliance Officer and Senior Management
  • Act as an advisor and provide guidance to business and infrastructure functions, as well as coordinate the collection of data and information in connection with assurance activities
  • Participate in reporting and governance activities

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of regulatory compliance experience, preferably in a bank or FinTech environment
  • Audit or compliance testing background and/or experience with banking/payments products and services
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain cross-functional working relationships
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank and/or payments laws, regulations, rules, guidance, and filing requirements
  • Experience in the design and implementation of control tests across banking products and services
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technology skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding, and rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to prioritize competing priorities in a logical manner
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, when needed

Compensation And Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining salaries, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire base salary range for this position is:

  • National: $124,650 - $166,200
  • Premium: $140,250 - $187,000
  • Premium Plus: $155,850 - $207,800
