Job Description

This position will provide paralegal support to Fortune Brands Innovations’ Corporate Legal department based on its priorities and needs. The Corporate Paralegal role requires considerable organizational skills, initiative, independent judgment, adaptability, and resourcefulness in a variety of corporate legal practice areas in a high-paced environment. This position prepares and handles sensitive and confidential information with maximum discretion.  

Position location: Deerfield, IL - Hybrid

This Paralegal role is designated as a hybrid role which includes working at least 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in one of our main offices located in Deerfield, IL to foster better collaboration, connection, and innovation.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

What you will be doing

  • Assist with a variety of requests to support the corporate legal department, including contract review and management, compliance training initiatives, legal projects management, records hold preparation and management service of process distribution and responding to third-party subpoenas.

  • Assist with managing the contract review and intake processes.

  • Assist in creating and/or managing agreements, data, documents and information.

  • Assist with the development of online compliance trainings.

  • Assist with review of legal or business-related documents, including contracts, to issue-spot potential legal concerns and provide advice.

  • Liaise with outside counsel as needed.

  • Draft internal memos, summaries, reports and other correspondence.

  • Prepare spreadsheets and presentations.

  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various departments with which our team interfaces to obtain and/or provide information.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of previous Paralegal experience with a corporate legal department. 

  • Must be experienced with contract review.

  • Prior experience with some, but not all, of the listed duties and responsibilities. Willingness to learn and assist with any of the above.

  • Ethical and has a strong work ethic, good judgment, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong proofreading skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and experience with Outlook.

  • Ability to work autonomously without close supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an American Bar Association certified paralegal school 

  • Conduct legal research.

  • Ability to proactively make suggestions to implement and/or improve upon existing processes and workflows.
