Bolt is hiring a Commercial Counsel to join our expanding legal team. This position will report to the Senior Counsel and focus on supporting and advising the go to market team on outbound sales contracts, multiple teams on inbound vendor contracts and the business development team on partnership agreements. The role will be responsible for drafting, reviewing and revising a wide variety of legal documents. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, comfortable making bold decisions, can operate independently and is effective working cross-functionally. This is an amazing opportunity to help build out the legal team at a fast-growing technology company.

What you will do

    • Draft, review and revise numerous commercial agreements including vendor agreements, MSAs, SOWs and NDAs
    • Work closely with the go-to-market and business development teams to structure and draft sales and strategic partnership agreements
    • Lead and close complex contract negotiations on both inbound and outbound transactions
    • Prepare legal templates and create efficiencies in contracting workflows
    • Support roll out of contract management system
    • Support additional legal team projects and tasks as required

What would set you up for success

    • At least five years of relevant experience handling commercial contracts, in-house experience preferred
    • A JD with excellent academic credentials and admission to a state Bar
    • Strong background in commercial law either at a top tier law firm or in-house; technology transaction and intellectual property experience is a plus
    • Excellent negotiation, analytical and drafting skills in a wide variety of deal settings
    • Sound business judgment, an ability to evaluate, manage and balance risk with business needs, and a desire to make decisions
    • Ability to simplify and explain complex legal ideas and frameworks
    • Highly organized, with strong communication skills and a preference for clear writing over talking
    • Team player who embraces responsibility, thrives in an intense, fast-paced environment and is willing to make decisions
    • Adept multi-tasker with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks effectively and independently
    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail
