Legal Operations Manager, Studios Legal

Job summary
The Amazon Studios Legal team is looking for a talented and motivated legal operations manager to join our contract and rights management team, supporting the creation of structured data for deal terms, options and rights information for Amazon Original series and features worldwide.

This role will be a key contributor in the continued development of contract and deal workflows, spearheading the use of technology to simplify those workflows in support of a fast growing and increasingly complex global organization.


Key job responsibilities


Responsibilities will include:
• Identifying, analyzing and extracting deal terms and rights information from a high volume of agreements into our contract management database;
• Supporting automation and process simplification efforts, including questionnaire based contract drafting and machine learning driven data extraction;
• Working independently, with minimal supervision, exercising good judgement when faced with incomplete information, or lack of clarity;
• Developing relationships with stakeholders across Legal, Business Affairs, Creative, outside counsel and other teams, working cross-functionally to clearly define the parameters of complex agreements;
• Identify areas of improvement for deal terms tracking; and,
• Provide ad-hoc support to users of the Amazon Studios contract management database, including identifying and remedying user error.

The successful candidate will have:
• Incredible attention to detail and nuance, able to dive deep into complex contractual structures while maintaining a broader view of the context in which those agreements live;
• Flexibility to adapt to changing deal structures and business needs;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused, detail driven, and professional demeanor;
• A passion for building trust with internal and external stakeholders by being proactive and innovative in solving problems that affect customers;
• A proven ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload; and,
• A desire to grow professionally as the role’s responsibility scales rapidly alongside the business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of contracts management, paralegal, or other comparable experience within a law firm or legal department – entertainment industry or studio legal department strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• JD
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and computer skills
