// Mission
 
As our General Counsel you build the legal and compliance team in the US from the ground up, laying the foundation to support our growth. You are a strategic partner who advises internal stakeholders, designs and implements legal processes, and ensures FINN is well positioned as we go to market and scale. You become the go-to-expert for all legal-related topics and work closely with our CFO, outside counsel, other external partners and authorities.

// Objectives

    • Hire and lead your team: Hire your own team of talented legal and compliance experts. Lead the team on a day-to-day basis and support each team members' professional growth. Build and manage a network of external experts.
    • Represent and advise FINN of America on strategic transactions, negotiations, and customer interactions: Partner with department heads and other teams to advise on equity and debt capital transactions, OEM and 3rd party service provider terms and conditions, customer terms and conditions, customer complaints, regulatory inquiries, and others.
    • Draft and review legal agreements: Review, negotiate, and prepare various agreements as necessary. Partner with outside counsel and other subject matter experts to ensure appropriate development of complex legal frameworks and agreements.
    • Be the resident expert on the legal, compliance, and regulatory landscape: Keep informed of relevant developments applicable to the company’s business, including federal and state laws and regulations. Provide ideas and insights into how FINN can minimize risk and work within the law to create unique and amazing experiences for its customers.
    • Oversee our compliance function: Implement best-in-class processes and tools to ensure full compliance with the latest regulations and internal policies. Design compliance programs and policies to maintain proper controls and mitigate risk.

// Skills and Requirements​

    • You graduated top of your class with a Juris Doctor.
    • You are a member of a state bar in good standing.
    • You have 10+ years of relevant experience as in-house counsel or in a large firm with a background in consumer finance.
    • Experience in a fast-growing startup is a plus.
    • You have strong knowledge in U.S. consumer finance regulations, with a working knowledge of corporate, data, and consumer protection laws.
    • You have experience preparing consumer and commercial contracts and other legal documents.
    • You have excellent judgement, a meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and explain complex statues and regulations to internal stakeholders.
    • You enjoy questioning the status quo and finding creative solutionsYou are well organized and experienced in leading a team on a daily basis.
