Job description This is an excellent opportunity to join the legal team for a successful Los Angeles based property management firm. As a results-oriented, business-minded General Counsel, you will be a member of the senior leadership team, will report directly to the President and will collaborate closely with senior management. You must embrace the role of trusted and reliable advisor and work together in close partnership and collaboration as a team member. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on litigation portfolio.
  • Manage all aspects of the legal department, including internal legal and administrative staff and outside counsel.
  • Oversee and manage an in-house litigation docket consisting of habitability, personal injury, and employment cases.
  • Oversee and manage out-of-state litigation.
  • Actively handle select business and employment litigation, administrative and appellate matters.
  • Engage in pre-litigation dispute resolution efforts.
  • Interactions with local governmental and regulatory agencies.
  • Review and update company policies and procedures, employment and property management agreements and lease documents.
  • Review and advise regarding miscellaneous landlord-tenant issues.
  • Understanding legal issues and assessing and managing business and legal risks.

  Qualifications

  • 20 + years of legal experience, preferably with a litigation background that includes substantial trial experience.
  • Experience managing a team, including lawyers and administrative staff.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire confidence in others.
  • Strong work ethic, “hands on” mentality and ability to produce high quality work product in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of ethics and integrity, and the ability to build trust with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical, organizational, oral and written communication and time management skills.
  • Practical business-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Effectively prioritize, execute and respond to a wide variety of inquiries, with an emphasis on identifying and resolving issues.
  • The ideal candidate will have a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Member in good standing of the California Bar.

  Compensation

  • The selected candidate will receive an above average yearly compensation of up to $350K.
