Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to serve as an Associate General Counsel on the Product Legal team that supports Facebook’s Ads and Business Product Integrity group. The position will focus on providing strategic legal counseling to management, and front-line support to the product and business teams that build Facebook’s business integrity products and tools. The ideal candidate for this role is able to work proactively, collaboratively, and is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking.   • Be the main point of contact for product and business team to assess legal risk and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products during their entire life-cycle across multiple jurisdictions with privacy laws and regulations, consumer protection laws, and other legal requirements
  • Counsel the teams responsible for building and managing the policies, systems, and products related to the integrity of Facebook’s Ads & Business Products
  • Coordinate with policy, operations, and product teams to implement and enforce the rules and requirements governing use of Facebook’s Ads & Business Products, including applicable content standards
  • Support and help efficiently resolve escalations involving Facebook’s Ads & Business Products, including consumer, policy and press inquiries
  • Work with outside counsel, policy, and international legal colleagues to support litigation and regulatory matters, and to track evolving legal requirements across the globe and industry verticals
  • Provide legal advice across many subject areas, including privacy, data protection, global legal frameworks, intermediary liability, consumer protection laws, and regulated areas of advertising and commercial content and activity
  • Develop creative and pragmatic approaches to managing legal risks related to advertising and commercial content and activity– including developing scalable trainings, standard guidance, and other resources

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
  • Experience advising on legal and/or regulatory issues (including privacy) that apply to online advertising, e-commerce, social networking, or other related technologies
