About the Role:

Under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, the Director of Legal Operations will own the development, and execution of the overarching legal department strategy that sets the foundation for Aura's success in a competitive industry and hyper-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Legal Department Strategy: Create and scale legal operations strategy to enable the growth of a dynamic digital security enterprise.
  • Operational Excellence: Translate the legal team goals and priorities into a strategic plan. Work with members of the legal team to drive, track, and report progress on KPI, OKRs and strategic plan. Assist with collection and assessment of benchmarks/metrics/KPIs and OKRs. Prepares reports and presentations for executive meetings.
  • Technology Strategy: Have end-to-end responsibility for the legal team's technology strategy, from the RFP stage through implementation and maintenance, with the legal and compliance, finance and accounting, and IT teams as your key internal clients and partners. Identify and implement legal department tools to streamline new or existing practices, manage design, rollout, and training for new systems, and generally oversee the legal department's technology strategy (including the selection, implementation, administration, and support of all technology resources related to matter and document management, content and knowledge management, e-billing management, contract management and related legal operations systems).
  • Outside Counsel Management: Develop and lead a process for positive and efficient outside counsel relationships. Identify and select firms (in partnership with attorneys), pricing negotiations, ongoing fee management, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion assessments, and issues.
  • Communication & Professional Development: Coordinate the communication and professional development program for the legal department. Leadership team meetings; all hands meetings: training program; legal team retreats.
  • Performance Management: Partner with legal team senior leadership to manage organizational planning for the department, including staffing and performance management
  • Manage vendor relationships: manage service providers (including law firms and legal technology services providers), to add efficiency to billing, contract management, ediscovery, document and litigation hold management, legal entity support, and more
  • Budgeting and Operational Cadence: Oversee budget matters and workflows within the legal team
  • External Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with other key company functions, such as People Experience, Finance, Operations, etc.
  • Training: Facilitate and organize company-wide training on Legal topics, train the Legal team and the broader organization on legal processes and procedures (e.g. new hire onboarding training, new software or process rollout).

Qualifications:

  • B.A. from an accredited university, prior background in graphic design and/or project management is a plus
  • 4+ years of professional experience in legal operations or project management, prior experience in technology companies is a plue
  • At least 2+ years of people management experience
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent project management and task tracking skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and decision-making
  • Excellent ability with Microsoft, Apple and Google suite of office products
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.
