The attorney in this role will support UHC’s individual carrier product and insurance distribution businesses: six insurance carriers writing individual insurance products in the consumer market and 6 company-owned insurance agencies. This is a dynamic area with ample opportunity to provide legal guidance on new growth initiatives, provide critical legal review of insurance carrier and agency advertising and marketing materials, support producer licensing and commission issues, draft and review producer agreements, maintain and manage agent advance commission agreements and UCC filings, and provide back-up attorney support on ICHRA business initiatives, along with other duties as assigned. This position involves analyzing and investigating issues, providing legal guidance for problem-solving, ability to review and implement regulatory guidance, develop relationships and communicate effectively with key business stakeholders, and providing explanations and interpretations within areas of expertise.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and services on issues concerning the rights, obligations, and privileges of the organization
  • Protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations, settlements and litigation
  • Provide a full range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one of more areas such as commercial law, contracts law, benefit law, regulatory and compliance

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree
  • JD and licensed to practice law in state of residence
  • 2+ years of law practice
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal experience
  • Experience providing legal guidance for sales and marketing business initiatives and planning

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $87,900 to $156,900.
