Yum! Brands is instituting a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for health and safety reasons. Effective January 3, 2022, Yum requires that corporate employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment, subject to reasonable accommodation as required by law.

In this newly created role, this attorney will have the opportunity to work in a number of different areas, but will be primarily focused on providing legal advice on the dynamic environment of U.S. employment laws and regulations. This position will interact with existing subject matter experts, including paralegals, and the legal teams at Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, and the Habit Burger Grill. This position will also interact regularly with outside counsel, both retained and adversarial, and various additional third parties, including trade associations.

Responsibilities

  • Advise the Yum! system on rapidly evolving U.S. employment law and policy issues;
  • Partner with supervising attorney and the Governmental Affairs team to review and analyze proposed legislation and regulations in the employment space, particularly as they relate to the franchise business model;
  • Coordinate cross-brand review, alignment, and implementation of employment policies and procedures, including those related to post-COVID hybrid working models;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and outside legal counsel to provide legal support on cross-border employment law and immigration matters;
  • Draft, maintain, and train on important employment-related forms, including arbitration agreements, offer letters and severance agreements.
  • Assist in the management of parent company litigation matters, including matters outside of the employment space.

Minimum Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in any state in the U.S
  • Strong background in employment law with 3-5 years experience as a practicing attorney
  • Must be fully vaccinated by January 3, 2022, subject to reasonable accommodation as required by law. Proof of vaccination required.
