The company is currently in pre-launch and is expected to enter the market early-2022.This position is located at our corporate headquarters in downtown Kansas City.
Day to day, you'll...
Provide legal advice to H&R Block, Inc. and its subsidiaries on a variety of complex legal issues, including business operations, e-commerce, and sophisticated transactions in support of strategic initiatives, with a focus on financial products and financial technology initiatives
Research, analyze and provide practical advice to business units and Company executives related to new and existing financial products and services
Work closely with the Vice President/Deputy General Counsel, General Counsel, and other attorneys in the legal department to provide high-level legal support on a variety of initiatives
Provide oversight and legal advice related to responses to regulatory and other inquires complaints and disputes
Assist with legal review and risk mitigation regarding all aspects of financial products and services including product disclosures and agreements, online terms, client notifications including email and texts, servicing and operations.
Monitor new and evolving laws that may impact the business or its products and services and assist with the implementation of compliant solutions
Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts in support of strategic initiatives.
Manage outside counsel to achieve timely and desired results within budget
Travel occasionally, as required for business needs or continuing legal education
Periodically assist with diverse high-demand legal projects outside the normal area of focus

What you'll bring to the team...

What you’ll bring to the team… :
Juris Doctorate degree plus license to practice law in one or more states. A current member of the Missouri Bar or an ability to become a member of the Missouri Bar within six months
Five to ten years of corporate legal experience at a large law firm or corporate or financial institution legal department
Strong business acumen and an eagerness to partner with internal colleagues to solve legal and business issues
Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and work initiatives at the same time
Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including presentation skills
Experience dealing with clients and external constituencies
Ability to spot issues and recommend effective and creative solutions
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
A positive attitude, a collegial approach, and an instinct to go “above and beyond” in order to achieve the optimal outcome for the Company
