Job Purpose or Objective(s): Support Member Services programs with legal assistance and represent to ensure all legal needs are being met.
Primary Tasks:
Act as legal advocate or advisor concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges of the individual.
Render legal representation for clients of the Choctaw Nation Special Services department.
Represent clients in court proceedings as assigned.
Review cases to assess risk and safety issues
Manage and maintain clear and consistent communication with clients regarding their needs and services being provided.
Prepare and oversee the preparation of any legal documentation and filing needs.
Perform all other duties as may be assigned.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
MINIMUM
Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Must be licensed to practice law by a State within the United States
Ability to handle a variety of legal fields, practices and procedures
Application of professional knowledge and ability by possessing strong judgment and evaluation skills
Grasp of the legal issues and requirements of the tribe’s commercial ventures, such as licensing, acquisition and divestiture
Understanding of tribal law, sovereignty, and tribal court proceedings
Three years’ experience as an attorney
TARGET
