About the team: We are a sophisticated and scrappy legal team of 8 focused on helping the Convoy move quickly and take risks smartly.  We both solve the problem at hand and think about how we grow to be 5x, 10x and 100x our current size.  We are key contributors supporting a hypergrowth, pre-IPO unicorn with over 1,000 employees that is backed by some of the best investors in the world.  We take the time to understand our businesses and our clients (#KW or Know Why in Convoy values terms). As a result, we are trusted and valued partners with a seat at the table for important decisions. About you:

  • You’re not afraid to get your hands dirty drafting agreements and partnering with our internal stakeholders to solve problems, big and small.

You will:

  • Draft and negotiate agreements with shippers in every industry from consumer goods to food products to auto parts. Our shipper customers tend to be large, often Fortune 100, enterprises 
  • Advise sales and account management teams on new offerings, pre-litigation disputes, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Pitch in and lend your expertise to support other areas of the business like product, marketing, and procurement.  
  • Partner with legal colleagues and stakeholders in finance, product, engineering, tax, and other teams on deals and other key company initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain contract templates and other legal processes to drive value and efficiency for the business and the legal department.
  • Manage outside counsel and budgets for legal services.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of 8 years as a lawyer with significant experience working on commercial transactions supporting business-to-business sales or business development organizations in any industry. If you’ve worked in the transportation industry, great!  If not, don’t worry, as long as you are excited about freight we’ll bring you along. 
  • Has experience developing and implementing processes to increase velocity and manage risk at scale. 
  • The ability to think strategically while managing the details, creatively solve problems, and to make clear recommendations.
  • Is comfortable dealing with regulatory, consumer protection, competition, privacy, and intellectual property matters.
  • Has experience building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships across many levels and functions within an organization
  • A J.D. degree with membership in at least one state bar, or the equivalent
