Career Title **: Chief General Counsel

** Department : Legal/ANA Enterprise Executive Office

Salary Hiring Range : $200,000-$ 250,000.

**NOTE: Competitive salary commensurate with experience

** **Career Summary

** **Provides legal advice and serves as the legal representative to the ANA Enterprise on issues related to management and operations, as needed. In collaboration with the CEO, senior leaders, Boards of Directors, and others, the Chief General Counsel identifies and addresses all legal, compliance, and governance issues related to nursing practice and association business and management.

** **Education

** Juris Doctorate degree and license to practice law consistent with association needs and jurisdictional requirements, preferably in the District of Columbia and/or Maryland. Current admission to practice before federal courts and the United States Supreme Court highly desirable.

**Work Experience

** A minimum of ten (10) years in most of the following areas of law: association and general corporate law, including transactional work; labor and employment law; tax law; certification and credentialing; foundation endowments; intellectual property; and governance. A minimum of five (5) years of management and/or executive leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated ability in analysis and interpretation of statutes, state and federal agency

regulations and decisions, state attorney general opinions and federal and state court

opinions.

  • Knowledge of word processing and electronic legal research software.

**Preferred Skills & Experience

**

  • Health law or business background a plus.
  • Knowledge of statutory and case law on nursing issues and related administrative agency

procedures.

**Work Schedule

** Hybrid: Employees are considered Hybrid if they are regularly scheduled to work in at least 20% of their work week or work month in an ANA Enterprise Office.

Hybrid employees are expected to travel to the office when requested and/or when necessary to achieve results or meet business needs.

  • The ANA Enterprise will hire primarily from the District of Columbia (DC), Maryland (MD), and Virginia (VA).
