Preference even if the person is remote is that they are willing to travel to our Hartford Office if needed. The GA Legal-Individual Markets Division is looking for an Attorney with annuity and securities experience for a 3–6-month contract. Please note that even though Hartford is the preferred job location, we are flexible. Hartford or Des Moines that would be great, but no restriction. Willingness to travel to Hartford.

• Close involvement with senior business members on product development of complex fixed, fixed indexed annuity and variable annuity products
• Collaborate with senior business leaders and members of the legal department on operational initiatives
• Providing legal support to Company departments, including sales, marketing, operations and compliance

Skills: Should have extensive experience in life insurance company products, securities law, state insurance law, distribution and operations.

• Experience with federal securities laws, including Client Rules, and State Insurance Law
• Experience with SEC registration statement filings including N4 and S1 and state product filings
• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently
• Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team
• Advanced knowledge of annuity service, operations and regulatory requirements
• Capacity to consider, process and filter large amounts of complex information quickly and identify appropriate actions in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work across enterprise and present complex matters to senior business leaders
• Strong communication skills, work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability

Education:

• Juris Doctor degree (JD) and 10 years of experience in the field of law, including financial services/insurance
