Jones Walker, a national law firm with more than 300 lawyers and 16 offices in Alabama, Arizona, DC, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, and Texas, has an immediate opening for a midlevel associate in our Maritime practice group. Jones Walker’s Maritime practice group consists of more than 20 lawyers dedicated to providing cross-spectrum transactional, regulatory, litigation and dispute resolution counsel to domestic and international clients in foreign jurisdictions and across the United States, in state and federal courts, and before US and international arbitral bodies.

Candidates should have a familiarity with and knowledge of General Maritime Law, the Jones Act, the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, and the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act. Candidates should be able to handle all aspects of maritime litigation, including written discovery, conducting depositions, managing motion practice, and providing case evaluations.

Candidates should ideally have five plus years of litigation experience. Candidates will be expected to be a self-starter with a high attention to detail, as well as work closely with other attorneys and team members. Strong communication and organization skills are required. Prior experience with insurance coverage and indemnity disputes, lien issues, vessel seizures and attachments, personal injury and property damage cases, and vessel collisions and allisions, is preferred.
