Contract Litigation Attorney

Our client, a New York City prestigious government agency, is seeking a temp to perm Litigation Attorney for an EEO Attorney Investigator role. You must be licensed to practice in NYS.

The EEO Attorney Investigator will be responsible for investigating employees’ discrimination complaints under the City of New York’s Equal Employment Opportunity Policy. The EEO Attorney Investigator will be knowledgeable about laws relevant to employment discrimination, such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the NYS Human Rights Law, and the NYC Human Rights Law. The EEO Attorney Investigator will be assigned to the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO).

Schedule :

Monday through Friday Flexible work hours (37.5 hours/week) Hybrid Schedule: 3 days on-site and 2 days remotely

Location :

Downtown Manhattan

Hourly Rates :

up to 1 year licensed: $35.00 1 to 7 years licensed: $49.00 7+ years licensed: $52.00

Responsibilities will include :

  • Interview parties and witnesses.
  • Request and review relevant documents and evidence.
  • Analyze allegations and facts within the framework of applicable anti-discrimination laws and the City’s EEO Policy.
  • Make recommendations related to investigations.
  • Draft investigative reports.
  • Conduct individual and group EEO trainings.
  • Track cases.
  • Prepare reports and perform other functions related to the position, as needed.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills :

  • Experience conducting EEO investigations.
  • Familiarity with the NYC Equal Employment Opportunity Policy and NYC Reasonable Accommodation Procedural Guidelines.
  • Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Pay close attention to detail.
  • Experience providing guidance with a human-centric, operations support and customer service approach.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations due to staffs’ difficult personal/employment circumstances.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
