Job Description: In the role of Corporate Attorney, you will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer. Your primary responsibility will be to manage a range of transactional matters with a significant focus on regulatory compliance in debt settlement, consumer lending, and telemarketing. You will play a crucial role in navigating the complex legal frameworks governing these areas, ensuring the company's operations adhere to federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transactional Documentation: Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and documents in consumer finance and marketing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Regulatory Compliance Expertise: Ensure adherence to federal regulations governing debt settlement, consumer lending, and telemarketing, including the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), Consumer Financial Protection Act (CFPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), CAN-SPAM Act, and related state statutes.
  • Legal Guidance and Strategy: Provide strategic legal solutions in line with business objectives, particularly in areas affected by the aforementioned regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to manage transactions and ensure compliance across operations.
  • Regulatory Updates and Training: Stay informed on legislative changes in consumer finance, debt settlement, and telemarketing, and educate staff on compliance requirements.
  • Employment Law Oversight: Address labor and employment-related legal matters, offering guidance and ensuring compliance with relevant laws.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Transactional Attorney with a focus on consumer finance and marketing regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal regulations governing debt settlement (e.g., TSR, CFPA), consumer lending (e.g., TILA, ECOA, FCRA), and telemarketing (e.g., TCPA, CAN-SPAM Act).
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, emphasizing client service and team collaboration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
