Corporate Legal Counsel

Job description Island Auto Group seeks a qualified corporate / in-house counsel. Our corporate office is located in Staten Island NY. We offer in office and remote flexibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Offering counsel on a variety of legal issues.
  • Advising executives within the company.
  • Working alongside other departments within the company.
  • Advising on contract status, legal risks, and the legal liabilities associated with different deals.
  • Working alone or with other attorneys to prepare legal documents such as briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and subpoenas.
  • Drafting contracts, lease agreements, loan agreements, and other legal documents for clients.
  • Drafting and reviewing agreements such as employment contracts, nondisclosure agreements, and non-compete agreements.
  • Additional responsibilities as required by the organization.

Requirements:

  • Must have a law degree from a recognized university.
  • Must be admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bar.
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization and across all businesses.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to attend legal hearings/proceedings off-site when needed.
  • Automotive industry experience desired but not required
