Marcum LLP is seeking an in-office Legal Assistant to provide hands on administrative support for a Trusts and Estates NYC boutique law firm. The perfect candidate is someone who takes initiative, can organize and implement the firm’s procedures, and above all be a team player. Must have the ability to work for several partners, attorneys and paralegals while enhancing the overall office effectiveness.

 

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Perform general clerical duties to include but not limited to: copying, scanning, mailing and filing various legal documents.
  • Drafting engagement letters to prospective clients and open new client matters
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Processing signed documents and closing completed engagements
  • Assist and maintain excel worksheets
  • File (and E-File) Surrogate Court documents
  • Calls with clerks for status updates on filed matters
  • Assist with client billing, reports and collections
  • Work directly with title companies, corporate services and other vendors
  • Assist with all other administrative ad-hoc tasks and day-to-day office duties, as needed

 

Qualifications

  • 2 + years of administrative experience, preferably as a legal assistant, secretary or paralegal
  • Knowledge in Trusts & Estate and Corporate law preferred but not required
  • Excellent Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic general office administration
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records and designing forms
  • Ability to communicate effectively at every level of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and multi-task are a must
  • Strong communication skills and follow-through are required for this role
  • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal oversight
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and comfortable being client-facing in person and over the phone.
  • Actively looking for ways to assist others and better the team
  • Looking for innovative and creative ways to improve processes and procedures
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Exhibits critical thinking, evaluation and analytical skills

This compensation range is specific to certain  locations and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

 

Compensation Range

Salary: $62,000.00 - $68,000.00
