The Role

LTSE is searching for a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and expectations within the securities exchange industry. This role holds a senior position at the Long-Term Stock Exchange, providing regulatory advice and developing requisite policies and procedures to support our strict and on-going adherence to regulatory mandates.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the evolving landscape of regulatory standards and expectations, providing insight and leadership to proactively address compliance challenges.

The ideal candidate is hands-on with experience in the day-to-day operations of a national securities exchange, with an ability to comfortably pivot as priorities and deliverables shift. You must be deadline-driven to meet Exchange priorities as well as regulatory changes and Exchange best practices. You also must be willing and able to make risk-based recommendations and decisions. Strong communication skills are critical not only in working across the Exchange but also with our regulators and Exchange peers.

You will be at the forefront of not only interpreting regulations, but also drafting and submitting rule filings with the SEC. The role is critical in helping to position LTSE as an industry leader in regulatory diligence and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, draft, and submit rule filings with the SEC, acting as the primary point of contact with the staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
  • Oversee the regulatory component of Exchange’s listing function, including review of initial listings applications for compliance with relevant Exchange rules. You will take a primary role in the regulatory program to assure that companies meet the Exchange’s continued listings requirements.
  • Contribute to the oversight of FINRA’s examination and enforcement functions. You will act as Responsible SCI Personnel for FINRA’s regulatory systems.
  • Assist in preparing Board and Regulatory Oversight Committee meeting materials and actively participate as required.
  • Support other functional groups in reviewing and drafting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor regulatory developments at the SEC and self-regulatory organizations .

Requirements

  • JD degree with at least 6 years of relevant experience and bar admission in any state.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on SEC or other exchange/SRO experience, or experience at a law firm covering exchange matters.
  • Experience with the 19b-4 filing process and drafting rules.
  • Advanced understanding of national securities exchange regulatory requirements, including Regulation SCI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interactions with SEC staff, SROs, outside counsel, and Exchange personnel.
  • Superior organizational skills adaptable to a start-up culture.
  • Creative problem-solver, capable of meeting stringent deadlines and making decisions in a fast-paced environment .
  • You have a hands-on approach and are a team player with strong prioritization skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Resident of New York Tri-state area with occasional in-office attendance (Financial District location), preferred.
  • Experience in supervising and reviewing the work product of junior staff junior staff.

To determine the compensation for the role, we use a data-driven, blended rate approach to ensure we are paying competitively among our peers by benchmarking to companies of similar size and stage and hire at the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the salary range.

The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $245,000
