Sr Director, Law – Spectrum Networks

Job Summary

This position is responsible for advising senior executives and business leaders on any number of legal issues relating to Spectrum Networks, which is a collection of 2 RSNs and dozens of local news operations spread across the Charter footprint, including New York, California, Florida, Hawaii and Texas. Your support and guidance will enable our dynamic sport and news teams to continue to provide our customers and viewers on linear and digital platforms with the trusted, high quality reporting and programming they have come to expect and rely on.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Structure, negotiate and draft agreements, including multimedia rights agreements with rights holders (including professional and collegiate teams, leagues and conferences), affiliation agreements, content and software license agreements, joint venture agreements, marketing and sponsorship agreements, production agreements, talent agreements, vendor agreements, and other agreements related to content acquisition, production, and operations
  • Oversee and advise on many aspects of the networks’ regulatory compliance (e.g., closed captioning), contractual compliance, and compliance with league and conference rules, rights and clearances, including music and footage licensing
  • Counsel and advise senior executives and business leaders on any number of issues relating to production, marketing, communications, operations, digital content distribution, customer engagement, and other day-to-day legal and business affairs issues
  • Liaise with internal groups, including regulatory, government affairs, programming acquisition, litigation, and finance
  • Manage outside counsel when necessary and paralegal support
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated writing skills
  • Extensive knowledge of contracts and general corporate law
  • Effective team player
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a demanding, fast-paced environment, communicate effectively with others verbally and in writing, and negotiate agreements with third parties independently
  • Ability to present concepts in business-friendly and user-friendly language
  • Demonstrate good judgment, initiative, poise and calm in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
  • Operate with a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, and maturity
  • Must be comfortable in an office environment
  • Must be willing to work after hours or on the weekends when necessary

Required Education

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; top tier law school preferred and admission to NY State bar

Required Related Work Experience And Number Of Years

3-5 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office environment

Regular travel to Stamford, CT office required.

Occasional regional networks offices required

The pay for this position has a salary range of $151,400.00 to $322,600.00 . The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
