Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with attorneys to manage employment litigation, including opening files, preparing discovery responses, collecting documents, managing litigation holds, facilitating witness interviews, and organizing documents and files
  • Gather facts, witness statements, and relevant documents to respond to charges and claims by the EEOC, DOL, and similar federal and state agencies; prepare drafts of correspondence, reports, and other legal documents related to claims, charges, and attorney demand letters
  • Research relevant employment laws and regulations under supervision of attorneys
  • Draft employment agreements, retention agreements, separation agreements, transition agreements, and other similar agreements based on templates and with attorney guidance
  • Support attorneys on projects associated with labor and employment law, including conducting internal audits, developing training materials, and other cross-functional enterprise projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:  

  • 5+ years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 3 years of litigation experience
  • Employment law experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build relationships across the enterprise and to gain and maintain credibility with internal and external partners
  • Ability to model corporate values of integrity, compassion, relationships, innovation, and performance
  • Ability to deal with multiple competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to manage an independent workload

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate legal environment
  • Paralegal certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Experience in legal and internet research
  • Solid communication, drafting, and research skills

The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $58,300 to $114,300 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
