Job Summary and Qualifications

Senior Labor Counsel will assist the Managing Labor Counsel and the VP and Chief Labor and Employment Counsel with day-to-day legal activities related to existing and potential traditional labor law related claims and issues in the corporate office and the various facilities and affiliates. This includes assistance in responding to questions from operators and claims raised before state and federal agencies (including and specifically the National Labor Relations Board), arbitrators and courts. This also includes direct responsibility for labor arbitrations, collective bargaining and associated legal issues and strategic coordination with other corporate departments in helping to implement overall objectives.

What you will do:

Senior Labor Counsel will be responsible for responding to inquiries from the corporate office and various facilities and affiliates on how to comply with the various federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to labor issues. Counsel will also be heavily involved in the defense of traditional labor claims brought against these entities before federal, state, and local agencies as well as claims raised in the courts and before arbitrators. Counsel will work independently on behalf these entities or in conjunction with outside counsel. When working with outside counsel, Counsel will be responsible for the overall management of the case.

Education & Experience:

  • JD from accredited law school required
  • 10+ years’ legal experience required
  • Subject-matter expert on labor law regulatory compliance and risk management issues
  • Admission to a state bar
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Travel is up to 40%
