This is a truly unique and exciting opportunity for a digital, tech and privacy lawyer to join GSK’s Group Legal and Compliance team.

Join GSK in its mission to unite science, tech, and talent to get ahead of disease together. The GSK Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity team is looking for an experienced and motivated AGC specializing in digital, technology and privacy. You will be part of a global Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity team within Group Legal and Compliance reporting to the Vice President, Head of Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity. This teams provides strategic leadership and advice on all aspects of digital and privacy and is working to set future strategies to get GSK ahead of the curve in digital trends and privacy and other laws which could impact the way that GSK operates both internally and externally to drive the business.

This is a key role within the newly formed team, and you will have the opportunity to quickly become a strategic partner to the business and an integral member of the wider Legal and Compliance team. Key responsibilities:

  • You will act as the primary point of contact for SVP Commercial Digital & Technology and US Commercial Digital Tech lead (commercial pharma business)

  • Lead on Privacy and Artificial Intelligence regulatory developments in the US

  • You will work closely with the US Commercial Pharma Legal and Compliance team to ensure that the global strategy is appropriately deployed for the US market.  You will lead on global digital strategy, digital marketing and data governance

  • You will stay up-to-date with current laws, regulations, and industry standards related to US commercial pharma, digital, and privacy. Provide guidance and ensure GSK’s compliance with these legal requirements

  • Lead tracking of US State Laws and support the US Legal and Business teams on implementing necessary changes required under law

  • Work closely with the Global Commercial Digital lead within the Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity team to initiate and advise on global strategies, while ensuring flexible deployment in the US to ensure regulatory and privacy requirements for the US are met

  • Support the US omni-channel strategy for marketing and lead digital and privacy matters as required to support the US Commercial Digital Tech lead

  • Develop, support and assist in implementing GSK’s digital, technology and privacy strategy in partnership with the Chief Digital and Technology Officer’s team

  • Advise on privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with applicable laws such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other relevant regulations. Develop templates and support the implementation of privacy policies and procedures to safeguard the company's data and customer information

  • Lead on strategy and advice driving strategy around data, ethics and analytics

  • Working closely with the wider Group Legal and Compliance team to ensure a consistent global approach of data and digital marketing strategy, while taking into account the complex global legal landscape of digital, privacy and cyber laws

  • Building a “one stop shop” for digital and privacy projects in the US to support the US Commercial Digital Tech lead, which includes ability to assist with creating template contracts, knowledge of consumer regulations (digital, tech and privacy), and advisory work.

  • Provide legal support and guidance on digital initiatives, including website terms and conditions, social media policies, digital marketing campaigns, and online consumer protection laws

  • Key contribution to the shaping of the future strategy of the Digital, Privacy and Cybersecurity team in line with the global business approach its digital transformation and focus on putting digital innovation at the heart of its business

  • Leading on, and delivering, targeting training and education programs for key stakeholders

  • Responsible for creating and managing digital and privacy templates

  • Managing multiple stakeholders and building strong relationships

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

  • US qualified practicing lawyer, with 2+ years of in house experience

  • Direct digital and privacy experience

  • Understanding of privacy and data protection laws, including HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and related frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in formulating digital and privacy strategy

  • You will have a risk-based approach to digital and privacy, with as solution-oriented approach. Ability to cut through complex legal issues and deliver advice with simplicity is key to this role

  • Broad experience of advising multiple business units and functions across a wide range of legal issues

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and provide practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills

  • Experience of advising on strategic, complex and/or high value transactions

  • Experience of advising senior leaders and participating as a member of senior leadership teams

  • Proven ability to work with people at different levels and different backgrounds, with strong communication skills

  • Familiarity with regulatory affairs and FDA regulations applicable to the pharmaceutical industry is a plus
