The Opportunity:

Verona Pharma is currently recruiting a Director, Compliance to join our team, reporting to our Vice President, Compliance. In the role of Director, Compliance, you will be responsible for directing various elements of Verona’s compliance program and transparency reporting efforts. You will also be responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams to provide guidance on risks related to Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and other relevant regulations that may help guide new business strategies, tactics, and interactions.

Remote working and flexibility are important parts of our culture at Verona. However, we are looking for candidates based in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area as you will periodically be required to go into the Raleigh office for key meetings, training, and other activities as needed.

To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of healthcare compliance and the related laws and regulations governing the space.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead transparency reporting program through internal system and policy development, data collection process development, vendor management, reporting, and data analysis, and
  • Create and maintain library of compliance-related policies.
  • Create compliance training plan and perform training to support organizational needs pre- and post-commercial launch.
  • Perform annual compliance risk assessment and support resulting departmental mitigation plans.
  • Support or lead compliance investigations.
  • Create and execute annual compliance auditing and monitoring plan.
  • Serve as point person and compliance subject matter expert for field sales and medical organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 8+ years of business experience in US pharma, biotech, life sciences.
  • 5+ years of relevant healthcare compliance experience in pharma/biotech.
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across different functions.
  • Enthusiasm, high emotional intelligence, sound temperament and professional attitude.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%.
