Pay Range $100k - $110k + Benefits

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the General Counsel, theJunior Counsel, Litigationwillprovide a broad range of legal analysis, services, support, and counsel, primarily in thearea of litigation matters, in addition to other general corporate matters.Success in the rolerequireseffectively workingin a fast-paced, deadline driven environment,beorganized,displayexcellent communication and people skills, and maturity in handling business and confidential situations with a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong professionalism, a positive go-getter mentality, whois eager to learn and develop his or her legal skills.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

 

  • Work cases at all stages of litigation, includingbut not limited to(i) preparingcourt documents, (i) drafting responses, demands, pleadingsand motions,(iii) researching and summarizing cases, developing legal arguments, and preparing reports, and (iv) engage in all stages of discovery, includingresponding and propounding discovery, preparing and taking depositions
  • Assist theregulatoryteam withresearch, review, and drafting for a wide range of legal topics such as construction(includingelectrical/solar),permitting, insurance
  • Review, evaluate, and analyze briefs, petitions, motions, and other pertinent documents filed in a particular casetodetermine legal issues, scope and complexity of issues raised, and factual accuracy
  • Provide general operational support to the company on an as-needed basis
  • Work with other departments as requested to analyze and/or prepare corporate documents according to business needs
  • Assist the legal team on a variety of tasks, projects, processes, and initiatives as needed
  • Keep track of changes in the ever-shifting legal landscape, and provide timely research, updates and reports on such changes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

 

  • Juris Doctoratefrom an ABA accredited law school; superior academic credentials preferred
  • Member in good standing of the California State Bar
  • 1-2 years of general legal experience preferred
  • Experience in civil litigation, commercial litigation,breach of contract actions is a plus
  • Must be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment, wearing multiple hats, flexible attitude and quick to react
  • Must have excellent writing, research and analytical skills
  • Must be able to communicate at a professional level with all levels of the company
  • Must be able toconduct complex and difficult legal research
  • Must be able to apply legal principles and precedents toparticular setof facts
  • Must be able to analyze legal issuesthroughpresenting statement of facts, law, and policy
  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excels under pressure in demanding, fast-paced environment
