Description

Amazon Legal is looking for a talented attorney to support our healthcare privacy and security efforts, with a focus on HIPAA and state consumer privacy compliance. As a member of this team, you will support Amazon Health’s Privacy Office by directing investigations, advising on policy development, counselling product development teams, and helping to build our culture of privacy and security by design.

Key job responsibilities

You share in our mission to make it dramatically easier for customers to find, choose, afford, and engage with the services, products, and professionals they need to get and stay healthy. You will serve as a partner and trusted advisor to our privacy and security compliance teams, leading development of creative, business-centric strategies. You will build processes that address risk and allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about both technology and healthcare, enjoy a fast pace, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations.

About The Team

This role will support the privacy and security compliance teams within Amazon's consumer health organization.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Arlington, VA, USA | New York City, NY, USA | Seattle, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. degree, and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
  • 5+ years post-qualification legal experience
  • Experience in legal issues central to US healthcare data privacy and security, including HIPAA

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in a top national or international law firm
  • In-house experience is a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $123,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
