Summary:

The Compliance Consultant is responsible for developing and maintaining compliance resources, communications, and programs for our benefits clients and staff. The Compliance Consultantwill use extensive research skills and organizational abilities to monitor regulatory and compliance developments for the Compliance consulting team. Additional responsibilities would include arranging and coordination of compliance and regulatory information, resources, internal and external compliance requests, and internal and external educational events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Assist department attorneys, consultants, and advisors in assessing client-specific concerns and strategies around compliance-related issues including PPACA, ERISA, HIPAA and other benefit regulations;
  • Build relationships with internal and external department liaisons through proactive communications and oversee department initiatives with project management best practices;
  • Compliance request screening and intake;
  • Facilitate production, maintenance and communication of materials and training programs on compliance-related topics and HCR topics to promote understanding of compliance issues, laws and regulations and consequences of non-compliance.
  • Assists department attorneys in monitoring and reviewing regulatory and legislative changes, preparing company’s response to regulatory changes, conducting staff education and following up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented.
  • Complete assignments as assigned by manager to assist Compliance Team;

Qualifications, Skills and Requirements:

  • Superior organizational skills with demonstrable attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects;
  • High energy, enthusiastic individual with ability and desire to work in a high production, fast paced environment;
  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take direction, disciplined and works well in a collaborative environment with a proven ability to manage process and meet deliverables;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to visual aesthetic of work product;
  • Aptitude for strategic thinking and building relationships;
  • Ability to present information to internal and external audiences;
  • Prior experience with research and organization surrounding federal laws;
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently;
  • Strong aptitude for systems and software including advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4+ years of employee benefits consulting, employee benefits, insurance, or regulatory paralegal, or compliance support experience; Familiarity or experience at carrier, broker agency, or third-party administrator is a plus
  • Familiarity with medical, dental, vision, life, paid family and medical leave, voluntary benefits, FSA, HSA, EAP plans and wellness programs. Familiarity with 401(k), 403(b), and executive compensation plans is a plus.
  • General understanding of plan compliance, ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, COBRA, the Internal Revenue Code and other relevant benefits legislation

Base Pay Range: $60,000-$75,000

Your base pay is dependent upon your skills, education, qualifications, professional experience, and location. In addition to base pay, some roles are eligible for variable compensation, commission, and/or annual bonus based on your individual performance and/or the company’s performance.
