About The Team

We’re seeking a Contracts & Legal Operations Manager to join Turo’s Legal Department. In this role, you’ll serve as a critical point of contact for many of Turo’s agreements, support contract management best practices through the contract lifecycle, and help support department-wide matters such as Master Service Agreements, SaaS Agreements, SOWs, purchase/insertion orders, and vendor management. The Contracts & Legal Operations Manager will drive initiatives supporting company and departmental objectives.

As a Contracts & Legal Operations Manager, you’ll partner with our Sr. Contracts & Legal Operations Manager and internal business partners to draft and support the execution of various agreements. You’ll also help create a world-class legal department that supports an innovative, globally scaling company. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented. This position reports to our Sr. Contracts & Legal Operations Manager and can be located on a hybrid basis in our Phoenix, Arizona or Toronto, Canada office, or remotely in Austin, Houston, Los Angeles, Seattle or a handful of other approved US-based remote locations.

What You Will Do

 

  • Perform contract review and drafting for a wide variety of agreements, including MSAs, SaaS, SOWs, NDAs, and other related agreements;
  • Understand Turo’s risk profile and ensure any contractual modifications align with Turo’s requirements;
  • Conduct closing duties of contracts to ensure proper signature, internal distribution, and data point capture;
  • Support Turo’s contract management system, LinkSquares, ensuring content data accuracy;
  • Review contract redlines and turn the first round back to Sr. Contracts & Legal Operations Manager as required;
  • Lead and improve upon a full range of contract lifecycle management activities, including tracking and executing amendments, renewals, and expirations; measuring and mitigating contract risk, and performing other post-execution deliverables;
  • Maintain best practices for contract templates, playbooks, clause libraries, self-service tools, and FAQs;
  • Assist with continuous improvement efforts related to Turo’s contract management system and contract repository, including supporting workflow enhancements, automation, integration, and business intelligence;
  • Conduct first-pass reviews of relevant agreements, ensuring appropriate contractual terms are in place with key vendors and coordinating process improvement initiatives as necessary;
  • Conduct periodic company-wide and departmental training on contracting processes and initiatives in conjunction with the procurement team;
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer with budgets, obtaining purchase orders, creating requisitions, and liaising between the business owner and the procurement team.

Your Profile

 

  • You are motivated, organized, and creative. You are patient, project calm under pressure, are respectful to your co-workers, and bring a positive attitude to the office;
  • 5+ years of relevant contracts management experience in roles of increasing responsibility;
  • Undergraduate college degree;
  • Experience and skill in reviewing, analyzing, drafting, redlining, explaining, and negotiating agreements;
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, proactive, efficient, and resourceful, with exceptional follow-through skills and a good sense of humor;
  • Strong desire to learn the business and to function integrally as part of an interdisciplinary team;
  • High EQ, impeccable professional ethics, integrity, judgment, and demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information;
  • Able to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive “can do” attitude, working collaboratively with other members of the Legal department and with internal business partners;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively counsel internal business partners by providing clear and concise advice and creative solutions to meet business needs;
  • Certification from a professional contract management organization and experience with legal operations is a plus; and
  • High proficiency in Google applications (including Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets), Slack, Jira, LinkSquares, Hellosign/DocuSign preferred

The Phoenix base salary range for this full-time position is $82,000-$100,000k + equity + benefits. Our base pay is determined by role, level, and location.
