Job Description

The Demand Assistance Attorney will provide claim and injury analysis on represented segment matters brought against insureds and the company in bodily injury and property damage claims. This individual will review and analyze active represented segment matters by monitoring legal activity and assisting in the development of a strategy to mitigate complex litigation. The individual will ensure compliance with litigation handling guidelines in consultation with adjusters, management, and outside counsel on proper procedures, trends, file quality, negotiation strategies and value drivers. The individual will partner with claims to make recommendations on settlement authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze bodily injury and property damage claims in the represented claims business segment and develop an appropriate mitigation strategy to resolve potential litigation
  • Provide recommendations to Claims business partners and defense counsel to achieve prompt resolution
  • Identify and analyze country-wide and specific jurisdictional risks and trends based upon enacted laws and regulations
  • Advise and counsel line management in Claims and defense counsel on analysis of trends, alternatives and risk factors of changing claim environments by state and territory and mechanized claim systems
  • Assist in developing training programs for Claim business partners, defense counsel, and Allstate’s Client Legal Services Practice Group
  • Present strategic summaries of analysis and recommendations tailored to specific audience(s)
  • Function as an advanced resource and partner to both the claim business partners and defense counsel in evaluating the effectiveness of the company’s litigation and demand handling best practices.
  • Partner with team members to meet the functional budgets, operational plans, and performance requirements for the Law and Regulation Department

Education and Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate degree (Required) and member in good standing 
  • Bachelors Degree (Required)
  • 4 to 7 or more years of experience (Preferred)

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Juris Doctor in the state of California (Required)

 

Functional Skills:

  • Computer skills including MS Office suite
  • Has relevant experience within a reputable law firm or an in-house legal department for a mid to large sized organization
  • Insurance-industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
  • Experience bringing matters to trial or resolution
  • Intermediate legal and business knowledge
  • Intermediate analytical skills

Compensation

Compensation offered for this role is $112,000 – 196,750 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
