Job Duties/Responsibilities:
The new employee will be hired as Senior Counsel or Assistant General Counsel, depending upon qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be charged with responsibility for providing a broad range of legal support to clients in a variety of areas, including:

• Short, medium, and long-term conventional power, natural gas, coal, hydrogen, renewable, emissions, and other energy commodity purchases and sales;
• Mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including purchases of large-scale generation, battery storage, and other facilities;
• RFPs;
• NAESB and ISDA arrangements;
• Commodity transportation, storage, and related arrangements;
• Joint venture and other joint ownership or project management agreements;
• Internal corporate risk assessment and approvals;
• Regulatory and legislative filings, proceedings, and actions;
• EPC contracts, LTSAs, and O&M agreements;
• Dodd-Frank compliance; and
• Corporate and financing, including tax equity, transactions.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Broad-based knowledge and experience in the regulated and unregulated power business (particularly with MISO and other RTOs and ISOs) and in the energy project finance sector are strong pluses.
• Travel commitments for this position are expected to be modest.
• The new employee must have the ability to perform well in team-oriented environments and be comfortable interacting with members of senior and executive management.
• The candidate should have excellent academic credentials; strong interpersonal and communication skills; a solid work ethic; and demonstrated success in prior employment.
• The position offers opportunities for advancement, leadership responsibility, and close collaboration with core team members who value attorney input.

Minimum Experience Required:

• Counsel, Sr: 6+ years in a law firm or in-house in one or more applicable areas of expertise, such as Regulatory (federal and/or state), Corporate/Commercial, and Nuclear.
• Asst General Counsel: 9+ years in a law firm or in-house in one or more applicable areas of expertise, such as Regulatory (federal and/or state), Corporate/Commercial, and Nuclear.
• Experience in energy or project finance work is required.
• Prior employment at a nationally recognized law firm is preferred.
• Membership in good standing of a state bar.

Minimum Education Required:

• Juris Doctor is required
