Tyson’s People & Sustainability law group is seeking to add new team members to our growing in-house global employment and labor law and sustainability law practice group.

The employment and labor positions are responsible for managing complex labor and employment law matters that affect the company and for advising in-house business clients. Candidates must be skilled at minimizing and retiring employment and labor law risk in a strategic, yet cost-effective manner. Candidates should possess a high level of proficiency in one or more of the following subjects: complex employment law advice and counsel, traditional labor law, international employment law, or employment litigation. Candidates should be familiar with both standard and complex legal concepts, practices, and procedures.

The sustainability position is responsible for managing complex sustainability law matters that affect the company and for advising in-house business clients on sustainability law risk. Sustainability candidates should possess a high level of proficiency in one or more of the following subjects: environmental, social and governance (ESG), diversity equity and inclusion, corporate social responsibility, and animal welfare. Sustainability candidates should be passionate about sustainability and familiar with standard sustainability legal concepts, practices, and procedures concerning our sustainability pillars - people (employees, consumers, and communities), natural resources (environmental management, water, energy and emissions, material resources), and agriculture (animal welfare and land stewardship).

All candidates must be able to work collaboratively with other legal team members and Tyson’s Human Resources or Sustainability teams. These positions will counsel members of senior management and the candidates must exhibit the executive presence, forward thinking, competence, and professionalism needed to earn the trust of members of the company’s senior management team.

Requirements

Education: Law degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.

Experience: 7 plus years of legal experience required. Candidates must have significant experience in one or more of the following areas: employment law advice and counsel, traditional labor law, international employment law, employment litigation, or sustainability law. The position levels will be based on experience.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills.

Communication Skills: Superior written and verbal communication skills.

Special Skills: A team player who effectively communicates with and responds to clients in a timely manner. Must work independently with outside counsel and exercise excellent judgment in performing all tasks.

Supervisory: Manage outside counsel and possible project leadership of other in-house attorneys, functional leaders, paralegals, or administrative assistants.

Travel: Some travel may be required.
