Course Development Consultant

AltaClaro (Project-based, Remote)

About Us:

AltaClaro is the leading provider of interactive experiential legal training. Our unique learn-by-doing and feedback model helps new lawyers become practice-ready more quickly, empowering participants from the world’s leading law firms, corporations, and law schools to own their career trajectories while helping enterprises drastically reduce training costs.

Our goal is to make it easy for every new corporate lawyer to get their footing right out of the gate. AltaClaro’s courses take students through three components: 1) watch easily digested lessons at a personalized pace, 2) apply those lessons immediately to solve real world client scenarios, using transaction documents derived from actual deals, and 3) deepen their learning in one-hour, online feedback sessions with an experienced practitioner.

The Role:

We seek dynamic attorneys who are passionate about teaching and mentoring to serve as Course Development Consultants to help us develop new courses. Our Course Development Consultants are highly qualified lawyers in the practice area being taught by the course, and they serve as contractors for AltaClaro on a temporary, project-based/part-time basis.

Course Development Consultants work closely with AltaClaro editorial staff to design and prepare each new course, including its simulation component. They are also featured as experts in the completed course. All work is remote and happens over a 1-2 month period. Workload will vary as the work progresses but is estimated at 4-5 hours per week for the development period. We pay up to $4,500 per course.

Right now, we are especially interested in identifying attorneys with deep experience in IP/technology transactions, real estate and commercial lending. Learn more about our current courses, and see a preview, at https://www.altaclaro.com/law-firms.

Preferred candidate qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Currently practicing, with deep subject matter expertise in the area of the targeted course (at least 10 years of practice and 5 in a course practice area, ideally at a large law firm or equivalent)
  • Teaching ability (communicates complex topics clearly to new associates)
  • Capacity to work on the course with our editorial team consistently on a part-time basis for a 1-2 month period
