ABOUT THE ROLE

Logistics Property Company is actively searching for a full-time, in-house Compliance Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team and help grow our compliance function. Please take into consideration that we require this role to be present in our downtown Chicago office four (4) days a week.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Paralegal will be responsible for various tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Formation, management, and dissolution of entities and maintaining a corporate record keeping database.
  • Preparing and maintaining transaction summaries and checklists and a company calendar.
  • Handling delivery of legal correspondence, including preparation of cover letters as necessary.

Compliance

  • Manage, implement, and administer compliance support for a variety of legal and compliance policies, procedures, and practices and recommend revisions as needed. Provide leadership in driving ongoing improvements in regulatory compliance.
  • Manage compliance training program for various areas such as ethics and code of conduct, conflicts of interest, anti-corruption, anti-trust, sexual harassment, and discrimination.
  • Perform background and KYC checks on potential employees, investors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Recordkeeping
  • Monitor and provide legal updates on compliance requirements for the company’s locations.
  • Manage the company’s ethics hotline.
  • Respond to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures.

Other

  • Assist attorneys, outside counsel or consultants supporting legal matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a corporate legal group, one with real estate focus is a plus but not necessary
  • Completed the requirements to be an Illinois notary, or demonstrate willingness to do so
  • Experience in entity formation and management is required, and experience assisting on multi-state commercial transactions and title and survey review is preferred
  • Strong writing, organizational and communications skills, including strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology
  • The ability to work autonomously and maintain a high level of organization and responsiveness
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Professional interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of LPC and other transaction parties
