The Lead E-Billing Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and objectives of the E-Billing processes for the Firm. This individual will monitor and analyze the submission and follow-up of the E-Billing team to ensure billing documentation is compliant with Firm and client standards. The Lead E-Billing Specialist reports directly to the E-Billing Manager and works closely with Attorneys and the Billing and E-Billing teams to ensure timely responses to any changes needed and ensure compliance with firm and insurance carrier guidelines and requirements. This position requires leadership and the need to maintain a positive attitude in the face of complex challenges and always demonstrate professionalism.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan, direct, supervise, manage and evaluate workflow of the E-Billing team.
  • Ability to identify areas of improvement and solutions needed.
  • Ensures we are compliant with insurance carrier guidelines as well as Firm policies and procedures.
  • Ensures E-billing team are submitting client invoices in various e-billing systems in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinates with E-billing team, Attorneys, Billing Analysts, Clients and Legal Administrative Staff for resolution and maintenance tasks associated with client e-billing requirements.
  • Utilizes billing software and e-billing portals to perform e-bill submission and compliance duties.
  • Is familiar with and applies Firm billing policies and follows established procedures.
  • Escalates appropriate issues to E-Billing Manager and Firm Leadership as necessary.
  • Helps onboard new members of the E-Billing team, setting them up in e-billing portals and making sure new team members can navigate portals comfortably.
  • Aids and assists E-Billing Manager in identifying potential candidates and participates in interviews to help determine the best possible candidate for hire.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelors’ Degree preferred (Accounting, Business, Legal Studies).
  • 2-3 Years E-Billing experience required.
  • Accounting and Billing software experience is preferred .
  • Must be proficient with MS Office and HTML (web-based) programs.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under tight deadlines.
  • Top-notch organizational skills for optimal workflow and efficiency.
  • Understands basic leadership and management principles and abides by company policy.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail, catches errors and corrects them quickly.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Pro-active, follows through with minimum direction, and displays initiative.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude and has confidence.
