Employment in legal increased, from 1.76 million workers in June to 1.78 million in July. However, while employment in legal jobs rose for men, it fell for the second straight month for women. More here.

Changing lawyer demographics - ABA data shows that the percentage of women attorneys increased to 37% from 33% in 2011. Lawyers of color made up 11.2% of attorneys in 2011, and now comprise 14.6%. See here.

Open Cap Table Coalition - Tech vendors and firms like Cooley, Gunderson Dettmer, and Fenwick & West have started collaborative efforts to standardize capitalization tables for tech startups. More here

Litera + Kira Systems - Litera, a document management company, is in the process of acquiring Kira Systems. Insight Partners, the private equity and venture capital firm, invested $50M in Kira in 2018 will become a minority investor in Litera as part of the acquisition. More here

LawVu Raises $12M in Series A - The New Zealand-based cloud platform for in-house legal teams tripled it's revenue in 2020. More here

Sony Invests in Eigen Technologies - The Japanese tech giant announced the "strategic investment" in the document analysis company was done via its Innovation Fund. More here.
