BigLaw Prepares to Go Back to the Office - More than 40% of BigLaw firms have plans to return to the office at the end of September with a hybrid approach; allowing employees to split their time between their homes and offices. Some firms, however, are expecting the September date to be pushed back. More here

Apple vs Epiq - A federal judge on Friday said Apple could no longer require devs to use its payment system in their apps, a ruling that has big implications for Apple’s App Store. More here.

ABA Issues Ethics Guidance for Investing in ABS - As Arizona, Utah and other states allow delivery of legal services through alternative business structures (ABS), the ABA issued a formal ethics opinion addressing lawyer investments in ABS. More here

Cleary X Hires CEO - Carla Swansburg shared her new position within Cleary X, a subsidiary of Cleary Gottlieb, via a LinkedIn post this week. Swansburg has previously worked as the VP & GM at Epiq. More here.  

Supreme Court Resumes In-Person Arguments - In-person arguments will begin with the new term on October 4th but members of the public will not be allowed inside the courtroom. More here

China Announces Data Privacy Law - The country's new Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) will be put into place to protect the rights and interests of Chinese citizens as well monitor any infringements on the national security or public interest of China. More here

TikTok Slapped with $6B Euro Fine - Stichting Massaschade & Consument (a Dutch non-profit) filed a lawsuit against the social media platform alleging the app harvested and auctioned sensitive user data (in breach of GDPR) and must compensate affected Dutch users. More here

UnitedLex Acquires BlackStone eDiscovery - Announced this Thursday, UnitedLex has acquired the Silicon Valley-based eDiscovery company BlackStone Discovery. More here.
