Crypto Insider Trading Case - Ishan Wahi, former product manager at Coinbase Global, Inc., has pled guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with a scheme to commit insider trading in crypto assets. More here

Tech Giants Announce ChatGPT Rival Plans - Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta are among several tech companies who are prioritizing plans to release their own AI chatbot to compete with ChatGPT, which is seeing wild success since it's launch two months ago. More here

Law School Adopts Name of Black Attorney - St. Thomas University School of Law rebranded as the Benjamin L. Crump College of Law this week, making the Miami-area law school the only one in the US named for a practicing, black lawyer. More here

Judge Uses ChatGPT in Court Decision - Judge Juan Manuel Padilla Garcia - of the First Circuit Court of Cartagena, Colombia - has used ChatGPT to make a court ruling. This is the first time a legal decision has been made with the help of an AI text generator. More here.

State of the Union Address - President Biden noted he is working towards legislation on children's privacy and online safety during the State of the Union address this week, stating, "We must finally hold social media companies accountable for the experiment they are running on our children for profit." Zoom Cuts 15% of Workforce - After rapid growth during the pandemic, the company joins the rest of the tech world in announcing a round of layoffs; 15% or 1,300 employees will be let go. More here
