Lacavera holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering and earned a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration (J.D./M.B.A.) degree from the University of Toronto. She was also honored with a Doctor of Law degree by the University of Toronto, recognized as one of Fortune's distinguished individuals in their Top 40 under 40 list, acknowledged as a highly influential figure in the realm of intellectual property, and inducted into the prestigious Canadian Academy of Engineering.

Catherine Lacavera's career journey is a testament to her legal prowess and her capacity to lead and build successful legal teams. At Google, where she spent over 16 years, Lacavera managed global litigation, employment, and regulatory investigations, overseeing a team of more than 300 attorneys and technical advisors. Moreover, she advised on complex acquisitions and licenses, such as the acquisitions of Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion and Nest for $3.2 billion.
